Welcome to a new world of crafting.

 Susan Mullins Cheryl P. Donaho

Susan Major Mullins, creator of Applique' Originals and co-founder of
Mullins Square, now brings her expertise to woodworking. Building on 25
years of designing and developing products for Neiman Marcus, Macy's,
Bloomingdale's, Walt Disney and others, Susan has created a new concept
in custom furnishings and home design-Design 1-2-3.

Now anyone can create customized furnishings with easy-to-follow
instructions. It's paint-by-number for adults. Design 1-2-3 is a full line
of wonderfully illustrated patterns that make woodworking and painting fun
and easy to learn. Making that special, one-of-a-kind world is now affordable
and accessible. Everything you need to get started is in every Design 1-2-3
package-materials lists, illustrated instructions, color charts and full-size
patterns. Design 1-2-3 makes it very easy. We would like to provide inspiration
and encouragement to all of you who in turn will "make memories"
to be remembered fondly and passed on from generation to generation.

PROJECTS FOR TODAY'S LIFESTYLES

WHO IS DESIGN 1-2-3?
A team of designers, artists and craftsmen who have come together to create
simple, easy-to-follow patterns and instructions for people who want to learn
and apply painting and woodworking skills.

WHAT DO WE SELL?
Creative direction. Design 1-2-3 patterns are to wood what sewing patterns are
to fabric. Both are patterns for crafting. In addition to traditional sewing patterns,
now customers can buy Design 1-2-3 patterns to create all types of furniture and
accessories. WHY DO WE DO IT SO WELL? Building on 25 years of product
development and production experience, we have recognized a new interest in
crafting. The retirement population on the go, young people wanting to improve
their environments, people who enjoy trying new things to express their own
creativity.

  • Builds Memories Susan Major Mullins - President Our Goal at Design 1-2-3 Enable people who do not have the time, ability and/or resources to create unique environments. Shortly after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design from U.T. Austin, Susan founded her own enterprise, Applique' Originals. In 1977 with $500 initial capital, she co-founded Mullins Square. By 1995 the company was manufacturing gift and fashionware products internationally and was generating multimillion dollars in annual revenue. Her designs have brought numerous awards, such as the Distinguished Alumni Award. She has developed products for Walt Disney, Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Sears among others. Her products have had media exposure on shows such as Regis and Cathie Lee, Lives of the Rich and Famous, Richard Simmons Show, and in Movies, The Witches of Eastwick with Jack Nicholson. She has personally presented her designs on Fuji Television's World Shopping Theater in Japan, CBS and QVC. A trainer/teacher/speaker/educator at heart, Susan has served on the Board of Accreditation in Washington. She has served as President of the Liaison Committee for the Department of Human Ecology at U.T Austin, in which capacity she assisted in researching business needs, assessing educational needs, and recommending appropriate curriculum for the University. She has done consulting and instruction in design, product development, and production both internationally and domestically. In 1997, her passion for woodworking and recognition of a void in the marketplace, prompted Susan to create and incorporate Design 1-2-3. Now anyone can create customized furnishings with easy-to-follow instructions. Design 1-2-3 is a wonderfully illustrated collection of patterns that make woodworking and painting fun and easy to do.
